Advanced Weebly will show you how to embed documents (forms, calendars, surveys, Google docs, videos, etc.), as well as make it visually appealing and easy to use for your readers. Creating Digital Interactive Notebooks (Abby Gross, CPCSC)
If you are a fan of traditional paper interactive notebooks or just a teacher looking for an innovative way to integrate technology into your classroom, this course will show you the process of creating a Google Slides digital interactive notebook, from start to finish. A digital interactive notebook eliminates the laborious cutting and pasting task by integrating technology in an interactive, engaging way through links, movable pieces, visually-appealing designs, and other features. Come learn how your primary students can move beyond skill and drill apps on the iPad, and into creating to show their learning! We’ll explore higher-level thinking apps including ChatterPix, Tellagami, Stage Pro, Popplet, Book Creator, Pic Collage, and more! We’ll also discuss the best ways for students to share their work on these apps with you. Time will be given for you to create using each of these apps, so come with ideas of lessons you use in your classroom that you’d like to makeover!
Creating YouTube Videos for the Classroom and Media Center (Julia Reynolds, GWS)
Our students love to watch YouTube videos, but how can you use YouTube in your classroom? This session will focus on the ins-and-outs of YouTube—how to make a video, upload it, and add extra features. We will also discuss the value of YouTube in the classroom, looking at example YouTube channels and brainstorming ways to implement it into every subject and grade level.
Data Tracking with Google Forms (Abby Gross, CPCSC)
This course will briefly overview creating assessments on Google Forms, but will primarily focus on using add-ons, such as Flubaroo, to grade assessments and create efficient data-tracking spreadsheets that organize data on student mastery of standards or ELs (essential learnings). Different possibilities for data-tracking methods will be presented, so teachers can choose the system that works best for their classroom, whether it is a master teacher-facilitated spreadsheet or individualized spreadsheets that are updated by the students themselves. Google Apps for Education (GAFE) provide a wealth of tools for students and teachers alike. Many of these tools provide strong collaboration and allow users to apply tools across multiple devices including Chromebooks, PCs, tablets and phones. This course will examine some of the unique challenges and possible solutions to using GAFE tools in a 1:1 iPad school. We will show how tools like Google Forms and Google Docs can help teachers provide quick feedback to students and provide teachers important data on their students to help shape instruction. Participants will also learn the ins and outs of two add-ons that will make organizing and managing your Google Apps activities easier and faster. They include: Flubaroo to use Google Forms as assessments and grade them automatically, and gClass Folders which creates folders for students and teachers to streamline and simplify the process of sharing and storing.
